There’s a truth that’s been said so many times it almost feels cliché — God loves you.
But pause for a moment. Don’t let that sentence pass by so easily.
God loves you as much as the Father loves Jesus.
It’s written in John 15:9. And if we let that settle deep into our hearts, it should completely change how we live.
The Struggle to Believe It’s Personal
I’ve wrestled with that truth.
Not the idea that God loves in general, or that He’s capable of love, but that He truly loves me. Like, personally. Not just tolerating me. Not just saving me because He “has to.” But loving me in a way that means He actually likes me.
Maybe you’ve felt that too.
And sometimes we try to believe it by faith — we read the verses, we hear the sermons — but deep down, we still quietly wonder, “Lord… do You like me?”
The Unbelievable Math of God’s Thoughts About You
Recently, I revisited Psalm 139 — specifically the part where David says:
“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.” (Psalm 139:17–18)
I Googled it.
There are estimates that say the grains of sand on earth number well over a trillion — some say it’s 7.5 x 10¹⁸ grains of sand on Earth. That’s 7.5 quintillion.
God has thought about you more than that.
And those aren’t fleeting, random thoughts. They’re precious, intentional, detailed thoughts filled with love, purpose, and vision for your life.
The Creator of the universe is fascinated with you.
A Father’s Love Doesn’t Depend on Performance
I once heard a story from Kobe Bryant. When he was a kid, he played an entire summer of basketball and scored zero points. Not one.
After the season, his father pulled him aside and said:
“I’m going to love you whether you score zero or sixty.”
That gave him freedom. That gave him peace. And it unlocked a boldness in him.
That’s exactly how our heavenly Father sees us.
Before Jesus had even begun His public ministry, before He’d performed a miracle, God said:
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
That was before Jesus did anything. God loved Him simply because He was His.
He Knew You’d Fail — and Still Said You Were Worth It
Before the world was formed, God already knew we would fall short.
He knew we’d make mistakes, have doubts, walk away, return, walk away again.
And yet He chose to create us anyway.
To die for us anyway.
To love us — knowing it would cost Him everything.
That means He thought you were worth it.
What More Does He Have to Do?
Imagine having your own children one day, and doing everything you can to show them how much you love them. Providing for them. Protecting them. Speaking life into them.
And yet they still come to you, over and over again, asking:
“Do you love me?”
Wouldn’t that break your heart?
God does the same for us. He tells us through His Word. He shows us through the cross. He walks with us through our struggles.
And still we doubt.
So today, ask for more faith. Childlike faith.
Faith that trusts His love without needing to perform.
Faith that believes He not only loves you…
But He likes you.
That’s a big deal.
Final Thoughts
Let’s stop treating the love of God as a cliché. Let’s hold onto it, hone in on it, and abide in it — just as Jesus said:
“Abide in Me, and I will abide in you.” (John 15:4)
God’s love is real. It’s deep. It’s personal.
And He’s calling you to live like it’s true.
If this spoke to you, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Let’s build each other’s faith — one truth at a time.
Peace and love,
